Things I have created!

Here are pictures of two projects I have been working on and finished!

This quilt is the one I made with the help of my quilt group. I love the colors and it was a fun pattern.

I bought the fabric at the Corn Wagon and the grey was the only one I swear they had. When I went a few weeks ago they had so many different greys...apparently I was a month off. It still turned out great though.

So they just opened a Crate and Barrel in Utah. I went on the day they opened just to check it out. I saw a coffee table decoration that I thought was way cute. Here is my adaptation of that piece.

I love it!

Texas part 2 - The park

One of the days we went to the park...here are some of my favorite photos.

Emily apparently got bored for like a second...I tried to snap the shot before Parker climbed the ladder but I missed it.

Aren't they just cute!

My trip to Texas was fun and it was fun hanging out with Katers, Bems, and Parkerman.

On another day we went for a walk around part of a lake while Kevin ran the 10 miles around the lake. The best part of the walk I think was Kate when she was running and looked down at her watch "tracking her time". It was so cute.

This was my welcoming committee to Texas!
The only one who stayed awake was Parkerman.

My day with Cora

Recently I had the opportunity to babysit my niece Cora for a day while Natalie, Jared and Jared sister Katherine went to a motor cross show. We had fun playing around my house and going to over to Jenny's to let Cora visit her Cousins. Here are a few of the picture from our day together.

This is her right before she was leaving. She was TIRED.

This ribbon was courtesy of her cousin Madi.

She is such a cutie! She was a joy to have around. Love her!

Mt Rushmore

I know its been a while since I have posted anything but I think I am going to try and post more. Which means I am going to to try to take more pictures of my life.

So a few months back I took a trip with my Mom to go see Mt. Rushmore. My desire to go see Mt. Rushmore I think started a kid. It was weird to me that we cut people's faces into a side of a mountain. But really made me determined to go was watching National Treasure 2. I also started to think of all the national monuments that I have not seen and that most Americans haven't seen.

It was a really fun trip and a cool experience to walk around. We also went to see the Crazy Horse Monument. It is not finished but when it is it will be an incredible sight to see. Also the compound that its on will be an awesome place of education about Native Americans. I hope it will be finished in my life time so I can take my kids to see it...even if it costs $20 dollars a person to get in.

The drive up to Mt Rushmore is also cool...the way we drove up to it was from the back so you don't see it until you are almost on it and grounds are well kept and walking up to it is indescribable. I tried really hard to get my hopes up cause I didn't want to be disappointed and I wasn't. I was amazed at how close you can get to the 4 iconic men's faces.

The walk around the amphitheater was good but I wish we went the other way cause the way we went we had to climb a lot of stairs. I was a little disappointed that we could not go into the secret vault behind the faces...but I guess I will just have to get a job in Government to see what is in it.

So we went to see Mt. Rushmore during the day and were told that we needed to go back to the lighting ceremony at sun down. I am so glad we didn't miss it. The governor of South Dakota was there and gave a speech about our brave troops and there was a tribute to all the service members who died who were from South Dakota. He asked all the people who were active and non active duty to come up on the stage while they played the national anthem. It was really touching.

Over all it was a great experience and I was really happy that I got to send some time with my Mom. I will always remember this trip. Here are some photos of that trip.

Longboarding

So in July I decided to go longboarding with my friend John. I thought it was just going be a nice ride around Provo on the flat streets, John though had other plans. He decided that we were going to go up and ride down Provo Canyon. Since I like challanges I agreed to go but warned John this is only my second time actually longboarding. Once we got up the canyon John asked me if I wanted to wear a helmet, and I said sure, which ended up to be one of the smartest decisions of my life. So we started to go down the canyon and I realized that I am not that bad of a longboarder but didn't like going as fast as I was and couldn't do cool tricks like John. I finally learned that the easiest way to stop is to step off the board in a run, which worked fine the whole trip. My first fall happened when I really wasn't move too fast, John reckons that I stepped too far forward on my longboard and made it tip to the front. I came crashing down and landed on my left side hitting my leg, forarm and head on the ground. This crash was a little dissappointing because it didn't really leave an marks on me, but I was happy that had the helmet and that I didn't hit my elbow. After I dusted myself off and was greatful that the only person around was John we started to move down the canyon again. During ride I decided it would be safer and easier to sit on my board and roll down the bigger hills with my feet scrapping so I wouldn't go too fast. This worked great on the first two hills but on the last hill I went down I didn't get my feet down on time and the board started to wobble and I over corrected and slide off the board and slide on the pavement for a bit. I was so mad cause I missed landing in the grass by a few inches! After I got over that I fell I realized that my butt was really hurting (worse pain than my first fall) reaching my hand back to feel the damage I realized that my underarmor shorts were torn and I was slightly bleeding. I was so mad because I ripped my underarmor shorts. Those are not cheap...Then I was afraid that I tore my shorts that were over my underarmor and that I was exposing my butt to everyone. Luckly the top pair of shorts were not torn. Since we were not close to the the road we kept going, my butt started to hurt more and more and we still had to get to the road, hike or hitch a ride to the car. It was about an hour later that we finally got back home and I could look at the damage. It looked really bad and was bigger that a 4 x 4 gause pad. The best feeling in the world though was sitting on ice and making my butt numb. The only down side is that it hurt to put any pressure, meaning I couldn't sit for a few days. The wound slowly started to heal and I could go back to normal business, but then I started to have an allergic reaction to Neosporin, huge hives all over my body and I itched liked crazy. The nice thing about an allergic reaction is that if I itched it would not spread and would feel really good. So after a few weeks of nursing my wound I had to succumb and go to the doctors. I was put on a steroid and I finally stopped itching completely about a week later. I now have really cool battle wounds, the coolest one has to be on wrist...it looks like I have a cartoon word bubble.
